Hello there, my name is Jaime. Back in 2006 I took a NAIT certified Veterinary Office Assistant program in Calgary and worked at Falconridge Animal Hospital under Dr. Tejinder Khaira and Dr. Anne Marie Rix for 2 years. I knew I wanted to pursue my Animal Health Technology diploma but unfortunately had to take time off to raise my two beautiful daughters. I moved back to Edmonton 11 years ago and started volunteering at the Edmonton Valley Zoo and am still with them today. Since moving to Edmonton I have completed my upgrading in order to take the Veterinary Medical Assistant program at NAIT to determine whether or not I still wanted to work in animal care and I did. I have recently graduated from NAIT’s Animal Health Technology program and am preparing to take the exam to become a Registered Veterinary technologist.
I have been with Edmonton West Animal Hospital as a Tech Assistant since 2015 and am looking forward to continuing with them as an RVT.
In my free time I love hiking, swimming, camping, reading, and spending time with my two cats Crowley and Quill.

Kayanna is a 2020 graduate of NAIT’s Veterinary Medical Assistant program and joined our Animal Health Care Team shortly thereafter. Growing up she’s had hamsters, fish, and a cat. However, from the earliest age she has always had a strong adoration for dogs in particular, without the privilege of having a family dog. She was ecstatic when her loving American Staffordshire mix, Tia, and her silly Miniature Australian Shepherd, Brutus, came into her life as a young adult. When she isn’t busy devoting her time to giving the utmost care to pets of Edmonton West Animal Hospital, she can be found paying attention to her fitness, sports, as well as reading a good novel… or even just indulging in shows on Netflix. She aspires to go beyond her present capabilities in helping animals by becoming a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine one day.
